America burns, Reid eulogizes

Harry Reid defends “cowboy poetry festivals” and calls those who would de-fund them “mean-spirited”:

“The mean-spirited bill, H.R. 1 … eliminates the National Endowment of the Humanities, National Endowment of the Arts,” said Reid. “These programs create jobs. The National Endowment of the Humanities is the reason we have in northern Nevada every January a cowboy poetry festival. Had that program not been around, the tens of thousands of people who come there every year would not exist.”

Stop the mean-spirited vaporization of cowboy-poetry lovers: vote against HR 1!

Mmm, I think those folks would still exist, Harry. They’d be going somewhere else, though. So maybe Nevada ought to be paying for this festival–not the federal government. As for, Senator Reid, “Don’t cry for me, Argentina.”
